Name: Monty Montgomery, a.k.a. “Brother Van” (formerly with the Dorsey Gang on 96.3 KSCS-FM)

Occupation: corporate and group sales, Mesquite ProRodeo

Website: www.mesquiterodeo.com

Birth date and place: April 24; Olney, Ill.

Family: wife, Cheryl, 50; son, Dalton, 16; and daughter, Lyndle, 13.

The one thing I enjoy most about my work is: helping families, companies and groups plan a night out at the rodeo and then seeing the joy on their faces when they are finally here relaxing, having a great time.

My business philosophy is: Be genuine, honest and fair. Be a friend first by building a relationship.

If I could, I’d be a: forensic scientist or homicide detective.

I’m so sick of: biased radio and TV talk show hosts (especially political and sports) who feel that their opinion is always right and the other side is always wrong.

The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be: Jesus, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and Walt Disney.

My hobbies are: spending time with my family, riding horses with my daughter and going to the movies.

The last book I read was: the Bible (I try to read it everyday) by God.

I wish I knew how to: play guitar like Stevie Ray Vaughn and sing like Van Morrison.

My worst habit is: biting my fingernails.

Nobody knows I: am not really a moron … I just used to play one on the radio. I love math. I love to crunch numbers!

The person I most admire is: my wife. She is an angel!

My guilty pleasure is: watching The Bachelor and Bachelorette with my wife and staying up late watching really bad horror flicks with my son.

I drive a: 2009 GMC Sierra 3/4-ton crew-cab for our horses and a 2002 Mustang to commute.

I’d like to be driving a: Ford Super Duty F-350 King Ranch with a moon roof.

I’m happiest when: I’m sitting in a movie eating popcorn, holding hands with my wife, or relaxing with my family watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.

I regret: being too conservative in my life and not taking chances.

If I could change one thing about Denton, it would be: to snap my fingers, widen the roads and end construction. Oh yeah, and put in an ocean.

Community activities: Lake Dallas Quarterback Club and the Lake Dallas High School Falcons radio broadcast team. I try to organize or help out with fundraisers for Special Olympics, Big Brothers Big Sisters, families of fallen first-responders, Scouts and single-parent advocates.
