Tickets are available for the upcoming Women in Commerce fall luncheon featuring guest speaker Valerie Freeman, chief executive officer of Imprimis Group.
For more than 30 years, Imprimis Group has been a leading supplier of staffing, recruiting, human resource and outsourcing services. Freeman has been recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the 25 most influential women in business and has received numerous awards including Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young, the Athena Award from the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce and Outstanding Business Leader from Northwood University.
The 11 a.m. luncheon on Oct. 18 at Texas Woman’s University’s Hubbard Hall will focus on leadership, mentorship and ownership — the hallmarks of the annual Women in Commerce event sponsored by the Denton Chamber of Commerce, TWU and Sally Beauty Holdings Inc.
Tickets are $40 for non-chamber members and $30 for members. Register online at www.denton-chamber.org or by calling 9940-382-9693.
The 35 Denton music festival will be working with the University of North Texas’ SWOOP Agency, a real-world advertising and public relations firm operated by students at UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism. The partnership will pair the festival’s founder and interim creative director, Chris Flemmons, with the director of SWOOP, Bill Ford.
Both said in a news release that the partnership would be beneficial to both parties and allow for the creation of marketing collateral in early 2014 to begin lining up prospective sponsorships for the five-year-old festival. 35 Denton is slated to return in full force in 2015 after a year’s sabbatical, Flemmons said.
It’s never too early to plan for a fashion show and a night of fun to benefit area charities.
Cloud 9 Charities is inviting residents to buy tickets to attend a fashion show and night of entertainment to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates of Denton County, the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, Rachel’s Challenge and the Sue Weaver CAUSE.
Cloud 9 Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been raising money for the past 10 years for local charities.
This year’s event, titled “The 2013 Fashion Show for Charity — A Gatsby Affair,” is slated for Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Hilton Garden Inn-Lewisville.
Cornerstone Staffing is returning as a presenting sponsor and Lead Concepts is a black tie sponsor, according to a news release. Other sponsors include Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound, Bridal Boutique, Butler Chiropractic, Banana Republic, Harley-Davidson of North Texas and others, including in-kind sponsors.
More than 100 models will showcase fashions from local stores for the fashion show, which will be followed by an evening of dancing and other entertainment.
Tickets are $100 each, available at www.cloud9charities.org. For information or to sponsor a table, call 972-839-1034.
