Personal Profile: Charla Hopkins Bradshaw

Name: Charla Hopkins Bradshaw

Occupation: Denton managing partner for KoonsFuller

Birth date and place: April 17, Lubbock

Family: fiance Rick Hagen; and children Rachel Terry Bradshaw, 24, and Erin Haley Bradshaw, 22

The one thing I enjoy most about my work is: helping people through a tough time and advocating for them and developing strategy for my cases.

My business philosophy is: To ascertain my client’s goals and to advocate for them whether via an out-of-court process, such as collaborative law, or via the court process.

If I could, I’d be a: I am doing exactly what I strived to do.

I’m so sick of: The laws make it very tough for non-wage-earning spouses who divorce to make it financially when the community estate is average in size.

The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be: my mother (who is deceased), my two daughters and my fiance, Rick Hagen, because my mother died when my kids were very young so she never saw them grow up and I would love for her to get to meet Rick.

My hobbies are: horseback riding, golf and spending time with Rick and my girls.

I wish I knew how to: create an invention that could change people’s lives.

My worst habit is: trying cases in my sleep.

Nobody knows I: raced motorcycles growing up.

The person I most admire is: I don’t admire any one person but I do admire people who are very successful.

My guilty pleasure is: watching 48 Hours.

I drive a: Porsche Panamera.

I’d like to be driving a: Mercedes-Benz SUV.

My favorite restaurant is: I have many but I like Mi Cocina.

I’m happiest when: I am with my girls and/or my fiance and my dad and his wife, or going to a horse show.

I regret: that I did not get to complete my master’s in marriage and family therapy before attending law school.

If I won the lottery, here’s what I’d do just for me: enhance our property with pleasures that we ordinarily have.

If I could change one thing about Denton, it would be: more restaurants in Denton and not just the outskirts.

When I retire, I plan to: stay on our ranch, do pro bono family law work and lots of horseback riding and golf.

Community activities: member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, member of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Council Legislative Committee, contributing author of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Family Law Practice Manual Form Book Committee, member of Denton, Tarrant, Collin and Dallas county bar associations and many others.
