CoServ Electric celebrated its 75th anniversary with its annual meeting at the University of North Texas Coliseum on June 19.
During the meeting, members learned about the current state of the energy industry and received details on the full deployment phase of eCoGrid, CoServ’s electric distribution technology initiative to add an advanced metering system, officials with the company said in a news release.
Members also received an update on the co-op’s financial performance, activities of the CoServ Charitable Foundation, renewable energy options and a preview of the 2011 Annual Report.
During the meeting, CoServ announced changes to its board by naming Clyde Geer as chairman, Anne Vaden as vice chairwoman and Richard Muir as secretary/treasurer of the co-op. Each board member will serve a three-year term, according to its website.
Additionally, Savannah resident Klaus Hoffmann was the winner of a 2007 Ford F-150 retired from CoServ Electric’s fleet. In all, 50 door prizes and several electric bill credits were awarded to members, officials said.
CoServ is a Corinth-based cooperative that serves 140,000 members in homes and businesses throughout North Texas.

California-based National Asset Services (NAS), a real estate firm specializing in tenant-in-common property management, recently announced the completion of the revitalization and refinancing of the Cooper Glen Apartments, a 240-unit complex located in Denton.
NAS officials said in a June 19 news release they had successfully worked for a 14-month period to address all levels of management, marketing and legal resources connected with the property.
“Within three months, occupancy levels increased from approximately 75 percent to over 90 percent and stabilized around 95 percent after one year,” officials said in the release.
NAS has more than 80 properties in 19 states, including 25 properties throughout Texas, according to its website.

Sally Beauty Holdings Inc. announced Thursday it raised more than $1.3 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure during its first year of its partnership with the breast cancer charity.
From April 2011 through March 2012, the company and its operating units, Sally Beauty Supply and CosmoProf, raised funds for the nonprofit through a 5 percent donation of sales revenue from designated products, including collecting donations at the registers in its stores.
This is the second year Sally Beauty Holdings has had the fundraising program for Susan G. Komen.
The program will continue to run until March 31.
Sally Beauty Holdings Inc. is an international specialty retailer and distributor of professional beauty supplies with annual revenues of $3.3 billion. Cartridge World in Flower Mound is granting a 10 percent discount to military veterans to celebrate Independence Day and Canada Day.
Ray Kendall of Cartridge World said the promotion will take place the entire month of July.
Kendall said Friday that printer cartridges are expensive and he wanted to offer fellow veterans the special discount, valid for Cartridge World-brand ink and toner cartridges.
Last month, Cartridge World announced free resume printing for new college graduates during the month of June.

Oil prices declined during the second quarter of 2012, according to an Energy Update provided by the Federal Reserve in Dallas.
A barrel of West Texas intermediate crude oil fell below $85 in June, with Brent trading near $100, the bank said. The figures fell below March 2011 prices, when they averaged $106 and $125, respectively.
The U.S. Energy Department said Wednesday the average price of regular gasoline decreased 10 cents this week to a national average of 3.44 per gallon — 14 cents per gallon lower than last year at the same time.
The national average for diesel also decreased by 5 cents to $3.68 per gallon, the department said.

Melody Watson of Plato’s Closet in Denton received a Sales Excellence Award from the company’s annual conference held May 20-24 in St. Pete Beach, Fla.
“Things are going very well,” Watson said Friday.
The Plato’s Closet brand posted a strong sales year in 2011 despite ongoing economic challenges, officials said in a news release.
Plato’s Closet is a retail store for teens and 20-somethings who want to buy and sell their latest looks in gently used clothing and accessories. The store opened in 2008 at 1719 S. Loop 288, Suite 150.
“Network and Nosh” will be the theme for the monthly luncheon held by Women Business Owners of Denton County on Tuesday at the Oakmont Country Club, 1901 Oakmont Drive in Corinth. The meeting will start at 11 a.m.
Breaking away from their normal structure, the July meeting will allow attendees to share a 60-second commercial to introduce their business. Normally, the group allows 30 minutes of networking prior to the meeting.
