Personal profile: Crystal Wood

Name: Crystal Wood

Occupation: owner, Tattersall Publishing; author of two science-fiction novels and Outing the Cat Lady: Embracing Your Feline Addiction With Style.

Birth date and place: Jan. 5; Havre, Mont.

Family: husband, George, since 1978, and assorted felines.

The one thing I enjoy most about my work is: helping people realize their dream of having a published book.

My business philosophy is: Everyone’s project is special to them, and they are all special to me.

If I could, I’d be a: stand-up comic.

I’m so sick of: divisive politics.

The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be: the cast of The Carol Burnett Show: Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Carol. I wouldn’t be able to eat for laughing.

My hobbies are: I really don’t have hobbies as such, because my work is my creative outlet. But I do enjoy showing our Siamese cat in CFA competition, which gives us an opportunity to travel.

The last book I read was: Pennies on Her Grave by Donna Fielder.

I wish I knew how to: play a musical instrument, especially the violin or cello.

Nobody knows I: taught myself to juggle by watching YouTube videos.

My favorite restaurant is: El Guapo’s.

I regret: not being a better student in high school and college.

If I won the lottery, here’s what I’d do just for me: I’d buy a lot in Denton with an unobstructed view of the west and build a house. Then I’d do the same in the U.S. Virgin Islands, except the view would be east.

If I could change one thing about Denton, it would be: to restore the Newton Rayzor ranch property to its original beauty. I miss the smooth green hills and the longhorns that made it such a welcoming sight coming into town.

When I retire, I plan to: I don’t plan to retire, just work less and have time for my own creative projects.

Community activities: secretary of the Denton Kiwanis Club, president of the North Texas Book Festival Inc. and volunteer with the Texas Siamese Rescue.
