Reinvestment grant helps renovate Scripture Building
The yellow building at the northwest corner of the downtown Square is getting a facelift, and a new tenant.
Scott Brown Properties was awarded a $10,000 grant to help update the building at 123 N. Elm St., and progress is well on its way.
In addition to re-exposing the brick exterior, the building is getting a new roof and signage, according to the group’s grant application. The building will also have a new door, windows and awning.
The building’s first floor will house a new Scott Brown Realty office, and the top floor will still have two apartments.
Once the exterior is complete, there will be a 12-foot-tall Scott Brown Group sign on the side of the building, signaling passers-by to the new downtown office.
Scott Brown was approved for the Downtown Reimbursement Grant by the Downtown Task Force in March. In the grant proposal, the company estimated the total renovation would cost about $121,000.
