Massage and chiropractic care go hand-in-hand, and now Spinal Decompression Center patients can have their appointments back-to-back.
Soma Massage Therapy now has a massage table and private room inside of the Spinal Decompression Center in Denton, where a dedicated massage therapist will be available by appointment Tuesday through Thursday, starting May 9.
"It just seemed like a natural fit because I know how good massage and chiropractic go together," Amber Briggle, owner of Soma, said. "It's like a Starbucks inside a Kroger. It's a self-contained store front inside of a store front."
Briggle has been a patient of Vince Baugher, a chiropractor at the clinic, for the past six months. As she supplemented her care with massage, the idea of a partnership between the two businesses seemed like a good idea.
Baugher, a chiropractor for 19 years, said he's worked with almost 40 massage therapists in his time here. He refers patients to get massages to help supplement his treatment, he said.
"Massage helps relax the muscles so that people feel better sooner, so their adjustments stay in place longer," Baugher said.
In a few months, Briggle anticipates reassessing how the partnership is going and whether they need to add more days or hours for clients at the center.
There will be a Mother's Day-themed open house Saturday, May 13, from 1 to 4 p.m.at the center, located at 2500 Lillian Miller Parkway. There will be free chair massages, activities for children to make Mother's Day cards and a chance to learn more about both businesses.
