The Texas Oil and Gas Association this week released data on how much the industry paid in state royalties and state and local taxes in 2017.

The estimated $11 billion paid in 2017 represented a substantial increase over the $9.4 billion paid in 2016, according to a press release from the association.

About $3.1 billion was paid in property taxes, including $1.1 billion to Texas school districts. Texas counties received about $336 million in property taxes from mineral interests.
