The Denton ISD Fine Arts Department showcased its skill set earlier this month at the Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards State Convention in Dallas.
Traditionally, the home district of the TASB president is invited to perform during the convention. Denton ISD board member Charles Stafford served as the organization's president for the 2016-2017 school year.
The district's performance featured acrobatics, dance, music and acting from students at several Denton schools. The performers recognized several programs with Denton ISD and emphasized that the students were "more than a test score," an allusion to pushback from school administrators about high-states, state mandated testing.
"I was so blown away," Stafford said after the performance. "I couldn't walk 50 feet in the convention center without someone coming up to me and saying they had never seen anything like that."
