TWU regents approve promotions and tenure

The TWU's Board of Regents approved promotions and tenure recommendations at its quarterly meeting June 3.

Associate professors Huanbiao Mo (nutrition/food sciences), Jane Pemberton (teacher education) and Claire Sahlin (women's studies) were promoted to professor. Associate professor Rae Langford (nursing, Houston) also was promoted to professor and received tenure.

Associate professors Christian Hart (psychology/philosophy) and Marilyn Massey Stokes (health studies) were awarded tenure.

Assistant professors Rhonda Buckley (family sciences), Kenneth Foster (psychology/philosophy), Nerissa Gillum (family sciences), Joni Jensen (music), Kathy Luedtke-Hoffman (physical therapy, Dallas), Beth Norris (physical therapy, Dallas) and Katherine Rose (family sciences) were promoted to associate professor and granted tenure.

Assistant professors Holly Hansen-Thomas (teacher education), Manal Omary (chemistry/physics), Noralyn Pickens (occupational therapy, Dallas) and Kai-li Tsai (health care administration, Houston) also were named associate professors.

Assistant clinical professors Deborah Buckingham (occupational therapy, Dallas) and Tina Fletcher (occupational therapy, Dallas) were promoted to associate clinical professor.

Clinical instructors Rosanna Crackel (nursing, Dallas), Niki Fogg (nursing, Dallas), Kristine Morris (nursing, Dallas) and Grace Yousef (nursing, Dallas) were promoted to assistant clinical professor. Lecturer II Cynthia Maguire (chemistry/physics) was promoted to senior lecturer.

Several retiring faculty were awarded emeritus status by regents. TWU nursing professor Margaret Beard and Penelope Hanstein, Cornaro professor of dance, were named professor emerita. Hugh Burns, a professor of English, speech and foreign languages, and Alfred White, a communication sciences and disorders professor, were named professor emeritus.
