TWU seeks volunteers for knee pain study

The Texas Woman’s University Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences is seeking volunteers for a study of the effects of grape powder in improving joint function and reducing knee pain.

The study is open to women and men between the ages of 45 and 79 who have self-reported knee pain associated with osteoarthritis. Participants must otherwise be healthy and mobile and must be willing to consume either a grape powder or a similar powder without grapes for a period of four months. Participants also will undergo range-of-motion measurements and complete pain and physical activity questionnaires. Blood will be drawn at the start and end of the study.

Benefits of the study include nutrition and weight management education, body fat and composition assessment and $100 in compensation for time spent on the study. The total time commitment for this study is approximately five hours over a four-month period.

Three visits to the TWU campus will be required.
