Instructors receive promotions

During the Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents meeting earlier this month, several associate and assistant professors were promoted and departing faculty members were granted emeritus status:

Associate professor Donna Scott Tilley of nursing was promoted to professor and granted tenure. Professor Patti Hamilton also received tenure and associate professor Gayle Roux was promoted to professor.

The following assistant professors were promoted to associate professors and granted tenure: Erika Armstrong, communication sciences; Vicki Baker, music; Jordan Fuchs, dance; Janine Golden, library science; Elizabeth McCarroll, family sciences; Jana Perez, visual arts; and Brigitte Vittrup, family sciences.

The following retiring faculty members were awarded emeritus status: JoAnn Danelo Barbour, professor of educational leadership; Carolyn Bednar, professor of nutrition and food sciences; James Chenevert, professor of music; Jo Ann Engelbrect, professor of family science and director of research and sponsored programs; Patrica Holden-Huchton, professor and dean of the College of Nursing; Paula Ann Hughes, professor and director of the School of Management. Ronald A. Fannin, associate professor of family sciences, was named Associate Professor Emeritus.


Sports for injured veterans set

More than a dozen injured, ill or wounded veterans from the San Antonio Military Medical Center will participate in adaptive sports at TWU today and Thursday.

The event, sponsored by Project INVEST (Injured Veterans Entering Sports Training) will include female participants for the first time.

Over the two days, veterans will participate in sports like aquatic exercise, rock climbing and wheelchair sports. Rock climbing will take place in the Fitness and Recreation Center, while all other activities will take place in the TWU Kitty Magee Arena.

Aquatics will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. today, and the remaining sports will take place Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m., and noon to 2 p.m.
