Alumni Excellence Award event scheduled

Dr. Deneese Jones, provost of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, will be awarded the spring 2013 Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Award in a ceremony Sept. 16.

She will also present a speech about “Preparing Women Leaders” at the event, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Room 203 of the Classroom Faculty Office Building on the Denton campus.

She is being honored by Chancellor Ann Stuart for her career in higher education, and has spent more than 20 years as an academic and administrative leader. Prior to joining Drake University, she served as dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Longwood University in Farmville, Va.


EMBA information sessions scheduled

TWU will conduct information sessions showcasing its Executive MBA programs throughout the metroplex this month.

The EMBA program is designed for middle- and senior-level managers who want to enhance their career skills and will take 15 months by taking courses online and selected Saturdays.

The Dallas session will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 in Room 2702 at the TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences.

The session in Fort Worth will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 in Room 122 of the Region XI Education Service Center at 3001 N. Freeway.

The final session will be in Plano at 10 a.m. Sept. 21 in the Trinity Room at the Sockwell Center, located at 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd.

Speech, hearing clinic offers programs

Graduate students will offer several programs for the community this fall at the TWU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic at the Multipurpose Classroom and Laboratory Building.

The students can provide hearing testing and therapy services, literacy and language learning for students who are hard of hearing, and speech-language clinical therapy and will be under the direct supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
