New scholarship established

Jerry Metzler, Debbie Voth, Roy Metzler and Mark Metzler and their families recently donated $13,500 to the North Central Texas College Foundation to establish the Gerald and Verena Metzler Scholarship Fund in honor of their parents.

The donation will fund scholarships for graduates of Lindsay or Sacred Heart High School who have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 and are majoring in business, education, agriculture or nursing/health care.

Community Art Exhibit set to begin in March

The them of this year’s annual Community Art Exhibit will be “Connection.”

Sponsored by the Visual Arts Department, the exhibit will be on display March 24 through April 4. Registration will be March 17-20 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Entry fees for the open division are $10 for online registry, and entries are limited to three entries per artist. The work should be original in concept, completed in the past two years, and the pieces can’t have been previously shown at an NCTC community art exhibit.

Youth entries are free, but there is a limit of one entry per individual. Five youth categories, according to school grade, are kindergarten–second grade, third-fifth, sixth-eighth, ninth-10th and 11th–12th. The top entries in each category will receive awards from the Gainesville Area Visual Arts Club, the Cooke County Arts Council, First State Bank, NCTC and other sources.
