TWU Foundation gets $1.7 million from estate

Alonzo W. Jamison, a former Texas state representative and longtime faculty member, has left the Texas Woman’s University Foundation a $1.7 million gift from his estate.

Jamison served in the state Legislature in the 1950s and ’60s before joining the TWU faculty in 1968.

He retired in 1984 after serving as the chairman of the Department of History and Government for three years.

The foundation is a nonprofit that administers money for services and facilities at the university.
