Registration open for dyslexia clinic

The Speech and Hearing Clinic at UNT has openings for its reading clinic starting Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The reading clinic is open all spring semester to help students in second to seventh grade who have dyslexia. In the clinic, UNT students are under direction of faculty members and help attendees with reading and language delays.

There is a reduced fee scale for treatment, and registration is open until Monday, Jan. 23.

For more information or to register, call Theresa Kouri at 940-369-7339 or email her at theresa.kouri@unt.edu.

Two students named finalists in competition

Sarah Muller and Hailey Turner, both UNT students, are traveling to New York City later this month for the last leg of the National Retail Federation Student Challenge.

The UNT duo is one of three teams going to compete in the national competition Jan. 13-15. Then, during the first day of the National Retail Federation BIG Show, Jan. 15, the winners will be announced.

Almost 30 teams competed this year, and Muller and Turner are one of three groups that advanced to the finals.

For the competition, students worked to brainstorm what comes next for STORY, a retail concept that reinvents the storefront every month to two. Students created presentations, videos and websites about the next concept for the store.

The top team will win a $5,000 scholarship for each participant, the second-place team will earn a $2,500 scholarship each and the third-place team will earn $1,500 in scholarship money each.
