Vice president meets with federal education leadership
Emily Klement, associate vice president of strategic partnerships, met with federal leadership in Washington, D.C., for Rural Community College Day.
Klement was one of 15 community college leaders that had a round-table discussion with Betsy DeVos, the U.S. secretary of education, on July 18. At the meeting, Klement and others spoke about the needs for workforce education in rural areas and access to education for students and communities.
Additionally, they met with Anne Hazlet, assistant to the U.S. secretary of agriculture, and several aides to U.S. congressmen and senators.
NCTC is one of 600 community colleges considered rural-serving institutions and partners with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
