New teacher certification program starts this fall
Students can now earn three teacher certifications in one degree program at TWU.
The program has undergraduates earn their bachelor's plus certifications in core subjects, special education and English as a second language.
Rebecca Fredrickson, the undergraduate program coordinator for teacher education, said the school had noticed many students came back to TWU to get these certifications after they graduated.
Classes for the new program begin this fall and includes one to three courses in addition to the traditional education degree.
Two faculty members named national nursing fellows
Anita Hufft, dean of the College of Nursing, and Anne Koci, a professor at TWU's Houston Center, were named fellows in the American Academy of Nursing class of 2017.
They are two of 173 nursing leaders who will be inducted as fellows during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Fellows are selected for the program based on their contributions to nursing and health care annually. Now, there are more than 2,500 fellows across 29 countries.
