TWU professor to give public talk on Constitution

Aubri Thurmond, an adjunct history and government professor at Texas Woman's University, will deliver remarks on the U.S. Constitution in a free public talk 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland St.

Her talk, "A President, Not a King: The Continued Importance of Constitutional Checks and Balances," examines the powers given to each branch of government, ostensibly checking the potential abuse of power by the legislative, judicial or executive branch.

Thurmond is a member of the Benjamin Lyon Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The discussion is expected to last about an hour.
