The "Celebration of Science" at Texas Woman's University will focus on the work and needs of women in science during the annual event on Friday.
This is the seventh year the university has hosted the event, which is presented by Ann Stuart and Ray R. Poliakoff Celebration of Science Series fund.
Students and their faculty mentors will be able to present their posters before the first forum and panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. called "Pathways and Challenges for Women in Science."
After an invitation-only luncheon and break, there will be a symposium about women in biology and chemistry research.
Speakers will include Sue Wessler, distinguished professor of genetics and the Neil A. and Rochelle A. Campbell Presidential Chair for Innovation in Science Education at the University of California Riverside, and Patricia Clark, the Rev. John Cardinal O'Hara CSC Professor of Biochemistry and concurrent professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of Notre Dame.
