Courtesy photo UNT on the Square opens the new exhibition "Laying the Foundation: UNT Art Faculty, 1890-1970" today with a public reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The show at the downtown gallery, 109 N. Elm St., showcases the work of artists who taught at the University of North Texas in its earlier days. The work is on loan from private collections and other sources. The show, which runs through Feb. 11, is sponsored by the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts, the UNT College of Visual Arts and Design and the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
