San Francisco band Birds & Batteries’ latest release, Stray Light, is a hybrid album, according to member Mike Sempert.

The band used “some hi-fi, tape and studio time mixed in with a lot of electronic production and home recording,” said Sempert, songwriter, vocalist and keyboard player. “As long as we’re making music that feels meaningful and excites us, we’ll just be putting out records and touring,” Sempert said, when asked about the band’s goals. “It’s actually pretty hard to think beyond this tour, just part of the myopic nature of the beast. I book our tours as well, so it’s definitely all-consuming. Short-term, it’s just one mile at a time; long-term, I guess, to create a body of work that lasts.” Birds & Batteries plays Saturday at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial St. Señor Fin and Chasing Kings open up the show, which starts at 10 p.m. Cover is $7.
