Sixth- through eighth-graders can enjoy a night of fun at Junior High Jamz from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1300 Wilson St. The monthly event features a live DJ, pool, air hockey, arcade games and more. Staff, security and chaperones will supervise.

Cost is $7 per student, and student IDs from one of Denton ISD’s middle schools are required for entry. Concessions will be available for purchase. For more information, visit  or call 940-349-8575.

Show off your pingpong skills in Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center’s tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Entry fee is $4. Players are encouraged to bring their own paddles. For more information and to register, call 940-349-857. The center is located at 1300 Wilson St.

It’s your last chance to register for the beginner skateboarding clinic for ages 6 and older from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the skate park, 2400 Long Road. Cost is $20 per student. Students need to bring a skateboard, a helmet, water and snack. For more information and to register, call 940-349-7275.

Register now for Little Dribblers basketball league for boys and girls ages 5 to 9. The league meets from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Oct. 5 through Nov. 2, at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1300 Wilson St.

On the first day, a skills clinic will cover the fundamentals of the game. Cost is $25 per player. Register by Sept. 28 by visiting  or by calling 940-349-8587.

Youths ages 10 to 17 can learn the skills necessary to care for infants and children in Cross Lifeline’s “Child Care and Babysitting” course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at North Lakes Recreation Center, 2001 W. Windsor Drive. The course will cover diapering, feeding, CPR and first aid. The $54 fee includes a workbook and a completion card. Register by Oct. 2 by visiting  or by calling 940-349-8287.
