Kids ages 6 to 10 can investigate sight and light in Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center’s “Science With Ms. Erin” from 10 to 11:15 a.m. or 4 to 5:15 p.m. on Thursdays, Nov. 15 through Dec. 13. In the classes, kids will learn about different types of light, the inner workings of the eye and more.

Register at $30 per child by visiting  or by calling 940-349-8575. The recreation center is located at 1300 Wilson St.

Register now for the following upcoming sports tournaments:

n Adult pingpong from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1300 Wilson St.;

n Disc Golf Winter Open, an amateur team tournament, at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at the disc golf course at North Lakes Park, 2001 W. Windsor Drive;

n Holiday Hoops, an adult coed basketball tournament, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24 at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.

Join Black Mustang Ranch guides for a horseback riding adventure from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 on the trails at Lantana Lodge, 2200 FM1192 in Pilot Point. Participants will see views of Ray Roberts Lake and will be paired with their ideal horse for a 90-minute ride.

Ages 10 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult, but teens ages 13 to 17 may attend without a guardian. The cost is $45 per participant. For more details and to register, visit  or call 940-349-8285.

Kids in kindergarten through sixth grade can enjoy field trips and supervised activities at Kids’ Day Off during the Thanksgiving holidays, Nov. 19-21. Each day costs $28 per child, and the 7 a.m. drop-off and 6 p.m. pickup will be at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St. Register by Nov. 16 by calling 940-349-7275.

Adults and teens 12 and older can learn basic computer skills from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19-21 at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1300 Wilson St.

The cost for the class is $25 per person. Register in advance by calling 940-206-5406.
