The Arc of Denton County is seeking donations of electronic readers to enhance clients’ reading skills. Call 972-436-8471.

Classic Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mazda employees are accepting donations, food, unwrapped toys and clothes for deserving families in their ninth annual Christmas Drive, at 4984 S. I-35E. On Dec. 21, gifts will be delivered to about 50 families. E-mail  or .

Denton Animal Shelter donations can be brought to the Christmas tree at Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland St., through Dec. 31. Needed items include clay cat litter, cat beds, washable throws for bedding, pet toys, pet food, kitten food (no red dye), Dawn brand dishwashing detergent and bleach. Call 940-349-8776 or e-mail .

The Denton Brookshire’s at 719 S. I-35E is partnering with the Denton Rotary Club for its “Spirit of Christmas” food drive. Donate nonperishable food or make a monetary donation to help feed families who need assistance.

Denton County Friends of the Family’s Adopt-a-Family program is under way. Donors can fill a family’s wish list and help provide Christmas dinner. Contact Michelle Houston at or 940-387-5131, ext. 104. Visit .

Model train exhibit on display through Dec. 31 at the Wood House, 516 N. Locust St. Admission is a donation of canned goods for Denton County Friends of the Family. Display features trains and more than 200 miniature buildings. Regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Serve Denton blanket and coat drive at Wash It Kwik, 1825 W. University Drive, through Jan. 1. Gently used blankets, quilts, comforters and coats will be cleaned and then donated to Serve Denton. Visit or e-mail .

Sweetwater Grill and Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., is collecting donations and gifts for a family in need. Call 940-484-2888 or visit . On Christmas Day, the restaurant will open its doors for 200 people unable to afford a Christmas dinner or who have no one to share it with. Youth volunteers from the First United Methodist Church of Denton are wrapping gifts for $3 to $8 per package, in the Macy’s Wing at Golden Triangle Mall, 2201 S. I-35E. For hours, visit .
