Panayiotis Kokoras is a new professor of composition at the University of North Texas College of Music. He’ll perform in a debut faculty recital at 8 p.m. Monday at the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theatre in the UNT Music Building.

In the first half of the concert, Kokoras will perform Grand Piano Trilogy. Kokoras worked on the project for 10 years, and half of the piece will include electronic sounds diffused through the Intermedia Theatre’s 16.1 surround sound system.

The remainder of the concert will feature musical instruments and electronics. Dutch recorder soloist Erik Bosgraaf joins Kokoras in the recital, performing an improvisation for recorder and live electronics. The sound of the recorder will be transformed in the moment, and played back with pre-recorded sounds. The performance is free. The UNT Music Building is located at 415 Ave. C.
