Brasuka brings its South American-accented sound to the patio at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern on Sunday evening.

Dallas-Denton outfit Brasuka returns to the patio at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Sergio Mendes fans are familiar with the lounge-y, easy feeling of Brazilian jazz. With an easy, grooving tempo and velvety vocals, the form reflects a South American experience with loads of Euro sophistication.

Brasuka includes faces — and talent — familiar to Denton audiences. University of North Texas music faculty members Rosana Eckert and Jose Aponte donate vocals and percussion to the band, respectively. Brian Piper, Ricardo Bozas, Jacqueline Sotelo and Brian Warthen flesh out the sound with keys, drums and bass. Harmonies get a dash of attitude with cabasas and tocas.

The music is free, but patrons can buy dinner and drinks. Sweetwater is located at 115 S. Elm St.
