Wild Bill will be at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios for New Year’s Eve.

Just because Denton doesn’t have a huge party or a ball drop on the Square for New Year’s Eve doesn’t mean you can’t dress up, dream up an easy resolution and plant a kiss on that special someone without driving to Dallas.

The Denton masked music crew Starparty will hold down the fort at Hailey’s Club on New Year’s Eve. The local six-piece specializes in a weirdly wonderful mix of danceable disco and rock, produced live.

Galactic keyboards go all bendy and an electronic violin gives an unpredictable texture to perky drumbeats. A wokka-wokka bass churns each trance-y song along with rock-worthy guitar. If one of your fantasies is to visit an intergalactic rave, this is the party for you. It’ll be a dance-dance-revolution kind of night at Hailey’s.

Lil Slim and the Gemstones opens. Doors open at 9 p.m. Cover is $5 for those who can legally partake of a champagne toast, $10 for ages 18 to 20. Hailey’s Club is located at 122 W. Mulberry St.

Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios will bring big bodacious beats on New Year’s Eve. The bill is packed with local hip-hop.

D. Smiley, a Dallas MC, University of North Texas student and anchor artist of the MacBroadz production crew, will perform songs from his latest album. Aggressive vocals and serious flow are buttressed by less-is-more beats.

Up-and-coming Denton MC Wild Bill performs. He might look like he spends his free time writing sci-fi fan fiction and upending Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, but as usual, looks are deceiving. Wild Bill is a fresh, confident voice in Denton hip-hop.

With a knack for sweet bass hooks and minimalistic beats, Wild Bill delivers solid rhymes in a fantastic voice. Unlike the higher-pitched nasal yawps from the likes of Eminem or the grating and whiny nasal verses by Fred Durst, Wild Bill has a cocky but sweet baritone to match his towering stature.

Brain Gang crew member Killa MC makes the trek from Dallas to join the party, and Tracy TC Counts will perform, along with Lewisville MC Stu Brootal.

The evening is capped off by Denton’s hip-hop royalty, Fab Deuce and AV the Great. AV will perform with a live band.

The hip-hop ends at midnight, and then DJs Ju$Trill and Spinn Mo take over.

There’s no cover for those 21 and older, with a free champagne toast at midnight. Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios is located at 411 E. Sycamore St.

Dan’s Silverleaf opens its doors for a free New Year’s Eve party. The evening’s dance music comes from the Nice Up Crew DJs, who spin reggae and more. Doors open at 9 p.m.
