The Denton Animal Shelter Foundation is putting a gourmet spin on helping out four-legged friends. OK, so there won’t be any pups at “Wine and Whiskers,” but companion animals are at the heart of Saturday’s fundraiser.

Gourmet fete benefits Denton’s four-legged set

The Denton Animal Shelter Foundation is pairing up wine and food at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Denton Country Club, 1213 Country Club Road.

“Wine & Whiskers” raises money for the Shelter Adoption Subsidy Program. For $70, animal lovers can sample wine and food, all while helping “forever” homes adopt animals without adoption fees hindering them from becoming proud and happy pet owners.

The fundraiser includes complimentary valet parking and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event benefit the foundation’s adoption subsidy program.

The Denton Animal Shelter Foundation is a fundraising organization that promotes animal welfare among the city’s population of companion animals.

The city of Denton manages and operates the animal shelter. The foundation works to help place homeless pets and prevent pet abandonment. The foundation raises money for adoption, emergency veterinary care and shelter care.

Tickets will be sold at the door of the event.
