Jeff Glover, left, and Joe Pat Hennen perform during a song swap in 2004. They and fellow Denton singer-songwriter Brian Houser will play on the Square tonight for the free Twilight Tunes concert series.

Twilight Tunes will take you for a walk on the folk side today.

Denton singer-songwriters Jeff Glover, Joe Pat Hennen and Brian “Beerman” Houser will pull up a patch of pavement at tonight’s free concert. The three men have been making folk, Texas and country music for a while in Denton.

Glover is a longtime local musician, known for spare, intimate tunes in the school of Max Stalling, while Houser and Hennen make Texas country.

Twilight Tunes is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday on the lawn of the Courthouse on the Square, 110 W. Hickory St. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and chairs. Locals and visitors are urged to buy dinner from nearby restaurants — or linger after the music to enjoy desserts and drinks.

The Denton Main Street Association presents the concert series on Thursdays through July 3, with a bonus morning concert for the Fourth of July.

Up next week at Twilight Tunes: a tribute to the Tijuana Brass with Denton’s A Taste of Herb.
