Have a cuppa, help a nonprofit help other nonprofits. Seven Mile Cafe, home of one of Denton’s most popular breakfast menus, opens its doors this evening to help raise money for Serve Denton. Serve Denton board members will wait tables, and a portion of the proceeds, plus tips, will go to the nonprofit organization.

Dinner at Seven Mile tonight raises funds for nonprofit

Seven Mile Cafe usually shuts its doors at 2 p.m. on weekdays — after a long morning serving one of Denton’s most popular breakfasts.

The tiny Congress Street cafe will open from 5 to 9 p.m. today to help raise money for Serve Denton. Serve Denton is a nonprofit group that is working toward a 16-acre central campus in Denton where nonprofits can pay $1 a year for rent and share costs of utilities. Basically, Serve Denton wants nonprofit services — especially those serving the poor and needy — to share a central spot in town, all while putting most of their money toward programs for the people who need it.

Board members of Serve Denton will serve the food during the event. A portion of the proceeds and all of the tips will benefit the nonprofit.

Seven Mile is located at 311 W. Congress St. For more information, call the cafe at 940-808-0200.
