Holler Times country-rockers take it easy

The Denton-Gainesville outfit Holler Time uses enough men for a chain gang to make its ambling, devil-may-care country rock.

The seven-member band joins Dim Locator and Old War Horse at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio on Saturday.

Kyle Delashaw talk-sings through the songs - sometimes falling short of the right note - while George Tinker and Andrew Mortazavi's pedal steel effects wobble and sway.

Think of Holler Time as a Jimmy Buffett kind of country. The band deals in a mellow sound that is delivered with a wink and a crooked smile. It's a crew that knows what it's doing and what it's about: a good time with a flourish of mannerly Southern pride.

Sounds like: a dance hall house band that's had a few but isn't ready to call it a night.

Details: Cover is $5 for 21 and older, $7 for those younger than 21. Rubber Gloves is at 411 E. Sycamore St.
