Bolts out of the blue

Or green, striped or polka-dotted at SCRAP fabric sale

Artists, tailors and crafters know that fabric can be costly. On Friday, SCRAP Denton will open its doors for its “Fabulous Fourth Friday” fabric sale.

For the day, all fabric will be 50 percent off. Shoppers can browse the shop’s inventory, which presents a host of colors, textures and graphic patterns and solids. Shoppers can also pick up some ideas for projects that incorporate textiles by browsing the shelves. Whether you’re preparing a home-school art assignment or designing clothes for the spring and summer, SCRAP has fabric, trim, thread and other items that you can put to use.

SCRAP Denton’s Friday hours are noon to 6 p.m.

SCRAP, at 215 W. Oak St., is the Denton center of a national nonprofit reuse organization. The local branch accepts donations of reusable art, craft and office supplies and makes them available for artists and craftsmen and women. The business model promotes creative reuse of materials and sustainability. Learn more by calling 940-391-7499 or by visiting .

And coming up on Saturday at SCRAP: Cherry Kandy Studio & Boutique will teach an adult craft class on “mash up” jewelry.

Participants can bring themselves and bits of old necklaces, buttons, earrings and found objects to use in making a one-of-a-kind bracelet. Cherry Kandy will provide tools and clasps.

The class costs $15 per student. Visit SCRAP to register and sign up.
