UNT Edible Book Festival feeds imagination, soul

People attending the 10th annual Edible Book Festival will have a chance at sinking their teeth into a book — literally.

The free event being held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the University of North Texas Willis Library, 1506 W. Highland St., will include representations of edible books. UNT students, faculty and staff will prepare the creations, which will be judged on originality and creativity, skill and construction, visual appearance and adherence to the book theme by festival attendees eating those entries.

Edible entries will be entered into categories that include Best Adult Nonfiction Book, Best Children’s Book and Best Non-Cake Book.

The UNT Edible Book Festival coincides with the International Edible Book Festival held on or around April 1, the birthday of 18th-century French lawyer and gastronome Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, who wrote Physiologie du goût (The Physiology of Taste), a “witty mediation on food, according to UNT officials.
