Unconventional princess wrestles with duty and dreams in ‘Brave’
Ayoung princess isn’t ready to accept the restraints of royal behavior in the 2012 animated Pixar feature Brave. The film is the second screening in the free Movies in the Park series this summer. The series presents movies that are suitable for all ages in May and June.
Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) loves her parents, but she also loves to run the Scottish moors with her bow and arrow. But the archer-princess must weigh her own heart against the fate of her mother when a curse strikes. Now the redheaded young woman must let fly her arrows for a sober purpose.
The free event starts at 8 p.m. Friday in Quakertown Park, 321 E. McKinney St. Attendees can enjoy a marshmallow roast and crafts, followed by the film at 9 p.m. on a giant screen. Brave is rated PG, 93 minutes.
