Blastball registration has been extended through Friday. Kids ages 3-4 can learn the basic concepts of T-ball, with some added fun thrown in. Practice starts Sept. 9, and games start on Sept. 14. The league is coed and will have eight games. Most games are held in Denton on Saturday mornings, with some weeknight games. Cost is $60 per child. For more information, call 940-349-8523. Girls high school softball league is a chance for high school team members to get extra practice games. Players can be enrolled in a high school softball program, but will be placed on a league based on skill level and school. Register by Aug. 31. Cost is $60 per player. Call 940-349-7275 or visit

Swimmers 6 and older can compete with the Denton Dolphins, part of the Texas Amateur Athletics Federation. Children must be able to swim 25 yards. The red team, for beginning swim team members, costs $168 per swimmer. The white team, for intermediate swim team members, costs $168. Group exercise classes begin Sept. 1. Do yoga or boot camp first thing in the morning, then take a lesson in boxing, Zumba, self-defense or many other classes. Learn more at

The City Golf Championship is coming up. Register today and you’ll have plenty of time to practice driving, chipping and putting for the tournament on Sept. 14-15. Adults can take their fitness to the next level with Les Mill Grit, a 30-minute, high-intensity interval workout from 7:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at North Lakes Recreation Center, 2001 W. Windsor Drive. Enjoy personal attention in a small group with certified coaches in a three-week session, or drop in any Saturday morning. Cost is $50 per session. The season is winding down for Civic Center Pool. The pool, at 515 N. Bell Ave., is open from noon to 6 p.m. today through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The pool is also open for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. Ages 18 and up get in for $3, ages 2 to 17 pay $2.25. Call 940-349-8279.
