Burlesque dancer to lead class on making pasties

Lemme Addams knows how to cover her bits with style.

It comes with the territory of leading an active local burlesque troupe.

Addams (nee Gayla Jackson) is a founding member of the Whiskey Tongue Burlesque troupe, which has been attending to Denton’s demand for a classy (and sometimes comedic) sort of bump-and-grind. Burlesque is a long-running tradition of striptease, but stops short of nudity. Denton is home to a number of troupes — including some dancers who have been invited to participate in national contests.

Addams will lead newbies through a short class on making pasties — the diminutive and sparkly costume pieces that save seductive dancers from appearing completely topless during their performances. Addams has been making pasties — themed and classic — for a few years now, and shares her very specific costuming concepts and techniques.

The class costs $25, and all of the materials will be provided. All participants will leave with a pair of pasties they’ve made themselves.

The class starts at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at Mable Peabody’s Beauty Parlor & Chainsaw Repair, 1125 E. University Drive. Space is limited and reservations are required by sending a private Facebook message to Addams at www.facebook.com/lemme.addams . Payments are through PayPal only.
