New blood challenges old guard in Catholic dramedy

Father Tim Farley (Jakie Cabe) is comfortably ensconced as priest of a prosperous Catholic congregation in the Circle Theatre’s staging of Mass Appeal, by playwright Bill C. Davis.

The Fort Worth theater ends the run of the play (billed as a comedy-drama) on Saturday.

Father Farley is chagrined to see his well-ordered world disrupted by the arrival of seminarian Mark Dolson (Justin Lemieux), an intense and idealistic young man whom Father Farley reluctantly agrees to take under his wing.

The play explores the ever-present tension between the establish church and its newly minted and awakened leaders.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets for the production cost $20 to $30 on Thursday and Saturday afternoon, and $25 to $35 Friday and Saturday nights.
