Big-top evening

SCRAP to stage masquerade, costume ball

SCRAP Denton, a local nonprofit that promotes creative reuse, will present its fourth annual Masquerade Ball Fundraiser.

The annual event invites locals to create a costume and a masquerade ball mask — and reuse materials to do so — for the event at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Denton Woman’s Club Building, 610 Oakland St.

This year’s theme is “Under the Big Top: 1930s Circus.” The party will feature performances by Paul Slavens, aerial dance by Twisted Bodies Pilates and live caricature drawings.

The evening will also include a photo booth, drinks and snacks, silent auctions and raffles.

Tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Advance VIP tickets cost $15 each or $28 for two; they’ll be $20 apiece at the door. VIP tickets include admission to a 6 to 7 p.m. VIP happy hour with a special raffle; complimentary drinks during happy hour; a first look at the silent auction items; and two drink tickets for the ball.

SCRAP Denton sells gently used office, craft and sewing supplies it collects through donations.
