Courthouse museum to train volunteer docents

The Denton County Court­house-on-the-Square Museum will have a docent orientation and training session from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 in the 1896 Room at the courthouse.

Docents may volunteer as greeters, museum guides and traveling museum presenters. Hours and days are flexible.

Residents who enjoy learning and sharing history with others can call Gretel L’Heu­reux, tourism coordinator, at 940-349-2850 or e-mail her at gretel.l’heureux@dentoncounty.com. Reser­va­tions must be made by noon Aug. 7.

 

New club for older fans of young adult books

Are you all grown up but still love reading young adult books? Join other adult fans of “YA” literature at the Amazing YA Book Club at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland St.

The book club will begin with a discussion of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. For more information, call 940-349-8718.
