The creative writing division of the University of North Texas Department of English opens its 2012-13 Visiting Writers Series with Hannah Tinti speaking at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Golden Eagle Suite at the University Union.
Tinti is best known for her award-winning collection of short stories, Animal Crackers, which has sold in 16 countries, and her best-selling novel, The Good Thief.
Tinti has won the New York Times Notable Book of the Year award, the American Library Association’s Alex Award and the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. She is a co-founder and editor in chief of One Story magazine.
Local listeners of National Public Radio might have noticed Tinti offering literary commentary on the program Selected Shorts.
Admission to Thursday’s talk is free. The Union is located at 1155 Union Circle.
