The Denton High School Fine Arts Department presents the musical A Christmas Carol, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The show opens on Thursday and runs three weeks. A cast of more than 75 students will perform the retelling of Charles Dickens’ story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser who taints a family’s Christmas with his greed and grumpiness.
“A Christmas Carol has been a labor of love from the outset,” said producer and Denton High choir director Mark Baker. “The Denton High School fine arts — band, choir, dance, orchestra and theater — have truly come together to make this project a very special event for the community, staff and students.”
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-15, and on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 21 and 22. There will be 2 p.m. performances on Saturday, Dec. 8, 15 and 22.
Tickets costs $10 for adults and $5 for students. For reservations, call 940-369-2002. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Special seating and discounts are available for groups.
