The Oak Street Drafthouse won five top awards this year in the Best of Denton honors for best bar, bartending staff, beer selection, happy hour and patio.

The two-year-old business, which provides craft beer and mixed drinks, sits in the third oldest house in Denton.

When asked why residents voted the business the best of Denton, John Williams credited the patio, great service, friendly environment and great drink specials.

Paschall Bar, which resides in one of the oldest buildings in Denton, has been voted best drink menu in Denton.

The bar boasts a quality selection of beer, wine and spirits as well as choice snacks.

They invite patrons on their Facebook page to join them for a warm and classic atmosphere, timeless music and the history of the bar’s namesake and original owner, B. F. Paschall.

For an evening on the town belting out your favorite tunes with your closest friends, Denton residents said Mable Peabody’s Beauty Parlor & Chainsaw Repair is the Best in Denton.

Owner Kelly Sanders said the bar, which has been around for 17 years, provides a fun, easy-going environment for everyone to just be themselves.

“And (we) have some very entertaining, sassy, humorous bartenders,” Sanders said. “We also have some of the best regulars in town who add to the Cheers quality of the bar.”

Sanders said the diversity makes the bar so unique.

“And we host some of the most unique shows and parties you can’t get everywhere else,” Sanders said. “And the bar staff creates that special experience for all customers new and old.

As for why it was voted Best of Denton, Sanders said it was “because we not only are an LGBT bar, we welcome everyone from all walks of life a safe and fun environment to express themselves without judgments. The name’s not bad either.”

With musical acts from rock to jazz, blues and country acts from around the state and the rest of the world, Dan’s Silverleaf earned Best of Denton honors as the Best Live Music Venue.

With shows nearly every day, those hungry for music are bound to get fed at Dan’s.

Best Pool Tables

Craving a round of pool? Dentonites say The LABB is the place to go to scratch that itch.

“We’re absolutely thrilled people voted us for our pool tables — it’s fantastic to even be nominated,” said owner Bryan Denny. “We just take real good care of ours, make sure (it is) a nice, good, clean, safe environment for everybody, with good beer specials and good food.”

Even if the Pourhouse Sports Grill is fairly large, owners Rick and Carolyn Moore said it is truly a local mom-and-pop operation.

“Our non-corporate ownership allows us more flexibility,” they said. “The lakeside setting and outdoor dining areas provide an environment unique to Pourhouse.”

The business, operating for six years now in Denton, provides clean, family-friendly dining with fresh, affordable, locally prepared menu items.

The Moores believe customers voted it the best sports bars in Denton because they enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere, clean environment and affordable menu.

Best Wine List

Hannah’s Off The Square

Dentonites have spoken, and they say Hannah’s Off the Square has the best wine list in Denton.

Owner Phil Shirley said the quality and consistency of the food and service makes the business unique.

“We have chef specials that change daily and we cook from scratch with local ingredients,” Shirley said. “Our guests know that we go above and beyond to find quality ingredients to use in everything we do.
