All the Money in the World (4 stars) - The true story of the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer), grandson of billionaire oil tycoon J. Paul Getty (Christopher Plummer), is enough to warrant an intense feature. With its nail-biting negotiations and the grandson's fight to survive, Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World sits among the thriller-genre titans. Adding more meat to the stew is the riveting family drama built around its central kidnapping story. The award-worthy Plummer paints Getty as a corrupt individual who shows faint signs of being a loving family man, but is held back by his even greater love for money. Scott delivers a slick thriller about the power of money and how it can corrupt the soul. Rated R, 132 minutes.
