My Friend Dahmer (3.5 of 5 stars) The life of American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is a curious one. His disturbing actions have been captured many times on film before, including the 2002 Dahmer, which starred Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) as the Milwaukee Cannibal. The well-made My Friend Dahmer focuses on Dahmer's life before he began to take human life and eat the remains. It's about his teenage years, when he was an odd kid who was fascinated with animal bones and human science. It's a skin-crawling character study with some spectacular performances, most notably Ross Lynch of Disney fame as the titular Dahmer. Rated R, 107 minutes. At the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.
