Agency to auction secondhand purses in fundraiser

A Denton County nonprofit is selling secondhand, brand-name purses for a cause.

Justin's Community Clothes Closet, a nonprofit that distributes clothes, shoes and coats to needy residents of Denton County, will host the fifth annual "Purses for a Cause" at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Denton County Cowboy Church, 400 Robinson Road in Ponder.  Admission costs $5.

The agency will sell  more than 60 gently-used and almost new purses in live and silent auctions. Additional purses and merchandise will be sold in a raffle.  Last year, bidders chose from Coach, Fossil, Brighton, Gucci, the Sak and Laura Ashley brands.

The Community Clothes Closet has distributed 185,721 pieces of clothing, shoes, coats and similar items since opening in 2012. The clothing closet is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 209 W. 5th St. in Justin.
