Jack and Evelyn Miller celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, January 25th.The couple was married in 1953 in Bowie, Texas. After beginning their married life in Denton, the Millers spent time in California, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, and then returned to Denton in 1973.They will celebrate by taking a river cruise in France this spring, followed by a family gathering in the Texas hill country this summer.
Jack served many years as Vice-President of Personnel for Victor Equipment Company.He now runs a private consulting firm, Jack D Miller & Associates, based in Denton. He is a past president of the Denton Rotary Club and the Denton Chamber of Commerce, and he served terms on the City Council and then as Mayor from 1996 - 2000.He is currently a commissioner on the 9-1-1-Commission on State Emergency Communications.
After several years in the Career Planning & Placement Office at UNT, Evelyn served several roles in the Denton County Probation Department, both as a Juvenile and Adult Probation Officer, retiring in 1997.She has remained active in the Aerial Club of Denton, and has served in a number of community volunteer roles throughout the years.
The Millers have four children:JD Miller and Scot Miller of Dallas; Marcus Miller of Carrollton; and Dana Miller Robie of Newburyport, Massachusetts.They also have 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
