Joseph R. and Rynell Stiff Novak, of Denton, Texas, will celebrate their 60 wedding anniversary on May 11, 2014. They were married at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton in 1954, with Joe’s father presiding at the wedding.
Rynell is retired from the planning offices at UNT and Baptist Home Mission Board. She also worked in human resources at Texas A&M University and taught at Blinn College in Bryan/College Station. She is a local, state, and national officer in several lineage societies and an officer at the Denton County Historical Commission. She participates in Baptist church activities at local, regional, and state levels.
Joe is retired from the United States Navy. He was an editor of the state Baptist paper and the Houston Chamber of Commerce publication. He also worked in human resources at Moore business Forms and taught at Blinn College in Bryan/College Station. Joe has volunteered as a firefighter and for the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. He enjoys photography and is a Baptist deacon.
The couple has five children: Rob Novak of Bells, Dan Novak of Westworth Village, Tim Novak of Spring, Becky Knight of Denton, and Lisa Richards of Georgetown. They also have 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Joe and Rynell will celebrate their anniversary by hosting a family weekend at Camp Copass on Lake Lewisville.
