Carl A. and Judith M. Troxel Garber, of Denton, will celebrate their 60 wedding anniversary with a family luncheon on August 17.
They met on a blind date in their hometown of South Bend, IN, during February of 1954 and were engaged at the end of a week. They were married on August 17, 1954, at Oaklawn Methodist Church in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Garber retired in 1998 after 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was in charge of heating and air conditioning at the North Texas Mail Processing Center. He also worked for the University of Texas Southwest Medical School and at Vought. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an airman first class during the Korean War. He currently enjoys gardening and tending to his tomato and pepper plants.
Mrs. Garber retired from health services at the Lewisville school district in 1986. She also worked at Twin Pines Nursing Center in Lewisville, Denton State School, and Pollack Paper Co. She currently enjoys reading and scrapbooking.
Both are blessed to be active members at Towne North Baptist Church.
They have two children, Gail N. Garber and Walter W. Garber, as well as two granddaughters, Christian M. Garber and Danielle J. Garber.
