Fran Witte of Irving, TX and David Wayne Martin, of Denton, TX, were married on March 4, 2011 on the lawn of the Bayless-Selby House Museum in Denton. Justice of the Peace Joe Holland officiated the ceremony. A reception dinner followed at El Guapo's Restaurant.
The bride's sons, James Wicks and Harrison Wicks, both of Denton and students at UNT, were in attendance. Fran has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Texas El Paso. She is currently employed at the City of Irving as Senior Community Educator, Office of Environmental Stewardship.
The groom's mother is Grace Martin of Denton, TX. David has a Master's Degree in School Psychology from UNT and is employed as a Special Education Counselor by the Lewisville ISD. The best man was Larry Johnson and the groomsman was Don Pearson.
The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Eureka Springs and Hot Springs, AK. The couple will reside in Denton. The bride and groom wish to thank Shirleen Sitton of Denton and Gina Weems of Dallas for their support, and Rachel Hamilton for her photography.
The couple made a donation to Keep Denton Beautiful to offset the ceremony's carbon footprint. Other environmentally friendly actions included electronic invitations, proximity of venues, use of a pedi-cab, locally sourced flowers, options for gluten free and vegetarian dishes, and dessert plates, forks and take home containers made from compostable plant based materials.
